Spring Eggstravaganza!

Our spring eggstravaganza is coming up on March 21 at 9:00am. This is our biggest event of the year! We will have breakfast foods available to fuel up for the big egg hunts. While you wait for your hunt to start, stop by and meet the animals that come from Sunrise Community Farm Center, or get your face painted and watch balloon animals being made by Kathi's Klowns, or take a family picture at the photo backdrop photo station- set up by The Little Things Party Planning . We will have family fun activities all morning, you don't want to miss this event! Guests welcome.

The egg hunts will start at 10:00am with the following groupings:

Kids 5 and under (meet beside stadium court)

Kids Ages 6-9 years (meet at the Camp Hollow Rock site)

Kids 10 and up (meet behind the hard courts)

Times for each group will be announced the week of the event. Please register all family members attending.

The weather has not been cooperating for our Fmaily Swim events this winter! We will try again on Sunday March 15 from 2:00-4:00pm. We will have lifeguards on site so that families can come enjoy pool time ahead of the summer season. Members can register everyone attending in your member portal. There will be hot chocolate to help warm you up after you swim.

Winter Music

Our final Winter Music series will be on March 1 from 3-5 in the clubhouse.

We will have a member jam session starting at 4:30pm. Members can join the band with an instrument of choice.

Member Marvin Rauchbach will be performing with his jazz band.

Light appetizers and drinks will be available.

Our next Pickleball Social will be this Saturday February 28 following the Open Play session. Open Play is Saturday from 10:00am-12:00pm. Food and drinks will be available starting at 12:00pm in the clubhouse.

You can register for Open Play in Court Reserve. No registration needed for the social.

The next Lap Pool social will be on Wednesday February 25 (new date) at 6:00pm in the clubhouse. Food and drinks will be available.

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow lap swimmers.

Winter Fun in the Pool


Our first Sunday Family Swim this winter will be on February 22 from 2:00-4:00pm (weather permitting). We will have lifeguards on site so that families can come enjoy pool time ahead of the summer season. Members can register everyone attending in your member portal. There will be hot chocolate to help warm you up after you swim.

Kate Says Goodbye to Coaching & Prepares to Welcome Baby Emi!

Many of our members know Kate Medynskaya, who has been a teaching pro at Hollow Rock for 13 years, is preparing to have a baby! As Kate gets ready to take on a new role as a mommy, she will end her coaching career in March (last day TBD).

Members who would like to congratulate her on baby Emi, and wish her farewell as a coach can come to a baby shower for her on February 21 at 3:00pm in the clubhouse. Her registry is below.

Dancing with pros

We would like to invite everyone to Dancing with the Pros on Friday, February 20th at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio at 4702 Garrett Road in Durham. At 7:15PM there will be a group Swing lesson followed by a Dance Party from 8-9:30 PM. 

You will have the opportunity to dance with area tennis professionals as well the dance professionals from the Studio.

There will be dance exhibitions by the Fred Astaire professionals and raffles for FREE dance lessons ! Bottles of water are included in your $25 registration fee.

Please register early as space is limited!

Tennis and Pickleball

On Saturday February 14, from 2:00-4:00pm, we will run tennis and pickleball mixers similar to the summer holiday mixers. This event is open to men and women of all skill levels.

Wear red, white or pink for the event.

Registration will be available starting February 1.

On Friday, February 6 at 12:00pm we will host our annual ladies' lunch in the clubhouse. This event is open to all women at the club.

Cost is $20 per person. Everyone will get a goodie bag, and a chance to win big prizes like water bottles, a pickleball paddle, a tennis racquet and much more!

Lunch will be catered by Nuvo Taco.

We will have courts available for drop in tennis and pickleball open play from 10:00am-12:00pm. These will be casual socials for members to meet each other and have fun before the lunch, if courts can open. For tennis players, we will have 6 clay courts available for drop in tennis (not structured) and you will play with a variety of players. We know there are players who like competitive, even matches, if that's you then check out our next club event coming up which is our Valentine's Day Mixer on February 14 (see details in the next block of this newsletter).

Join us for the annual holiday cookie exchange on December 9 at 12pm. We will have appetizers and drinks available. Members are asked to bring 3 dozen cookies to share.

All members are welcome to join this event.

Additionally we will have a Tennis Social and Pickleball Open Play if weather cooperates. Members can register for the tennis or pickleball in your member portal. If members register for tennis or pickleball, please plan to bring cookies to share.

We invite families to come out and enjoy the heated lap pool one Sunday a month in the winter to have some fun pool time. Upcoming dates are November 16, and December 7 from 2-4pm. We will have hot chocolate to help warm swimmers up when you get out of the pool.

Our Winter Party is coming up on December 6th at 6pm. Come out for an evening of food, drinks and live music in our cozy clubhouse. Members can register in their member portal.

Come out at 10am for our pickleball open play, and stay afterwards for pizza and drinks. Members can register for Open Play, but no registration needed for the social.

Hollow Rock Cup-Pickleball is coming up on November 15 from 1:00-4:00pm. There will be four teams playing to win! Contact Niccolo for more info.

Join us for our annual Oktoberfest event on Friday October 17 at 6:00pm. This event will kick off the weekend of Club Championships. We'll have food, traditional Oktoberfest beers, and fun for all ages including live music on the back patio!

The evening will also include award presentations for our outstanding juniors. The Rob Schmidt and Wendy McColsky awards will be given to juniors for outstanding sportsmanship and achievement displayed this year.

Adult admission is $25 per person, kids eat free. Please register kids separately.

Adults who attend Oktoberfest will get a free entry into Club Championships.

Our 8th annual Hollow Rock Cup is coming up on September 20. Tennis will be from 9:00am-12:00pm. Players will be drafted into four teams, each team is captained by a Hollow Rock teaching pro. All levels are welcome to join, we will put a variety of levels on each team. The team with the most games won at the end of the matches wins the Hollow Rock Cup and bragging rights for a year!

Lunch will be served after the tennis starting at aorund noon.

Labor Day Tennis and Pickleball Mixers from 9:00-11:00am. Cafe will have a holiday special, and the lifeguards will host pool games starting at 1pm.

Take a break from the back to school chaos and have a relaxing afternoon at the pool on August 23 from 3:00-5:00pm. We will have live music from Sunday Night Rice this month.
